Ramón Rivero Carrió has been selected by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation and INTBAU Spain as master craftsperson of the month for November 2026.
Ramón Rivero Carrió is a master blacksmith specialising in the handcrafted production of wrought-iron elements, such as door pulls, knockers, latches, door fittings, grilles and fireplace andirons. In his workshop, he uses traditional tools and techniques, including coal-fired forges, anvils, hammers and tongs, which he complements with modern machinery. He considers it essential to preserve traditional techniques and uses mechanical tools primarily when they help reduce physical effort or production time without compromising the quality of the finished pieces.

He initially taught himself the craft before pursuing further training at the Centro de los Oficios in León and the School of Arts and Crafts in Salamanca, as well as attending several specialised courses. His notable achievements and projects include the Joan Prats Blacksmithing Award, which he received in Alpens in 2010; his participation in a collaborative work created in Santa Eulalia de Oscos in tribute to Avelino Osorio in 2013; and the design of the wrought-iron gate for the Church of San Juan Bautista in Monzón, Huesca, in 2015.
