The Traditional Building Cultures Foundation is collaborating in the organization of the “Craft, Architecture and Territory” conference, which will take place on September 26 and 27, 2026, at Os Casares, San Cristovo de Mouricios (Chantada, Lugo, Spain).
Organized by the Fundación Artesanía de Galicia – Xunta de Galicia and curated by Alejandro García Hermida, the conference will explore the relationships between architecture, the building crafts, and local building cultures, with particular attention to their role in shaping, conserving, and transforming territories and landscapes. The program includes a series of lectures and roundtable discussions focusing on collaboration between architects and master craftspeople, the relationship between the crafts and local identity, the transmission of this knowledge, and its connection to the territory.
The initiative is also supported by Espacio Vilaseco.

Workshop “Natural Colors in Contemporary Building”
As part of the “Craft, Architecture and Territory” conference, the workshop “Natural Colors in Contemporary Building” will also be held on September 28 and 29, 2026, at Espacio Vilaseco, San Cristovo de Mouricios (Chantada, Lugo).
The workshop, led by master scagliola artisan Luis Prieto, will focus on the knowledge and use of natural pigments in construction. Over the course of 16 hours, participants will study different pigments obtained from natural earths and oxides, their extraction, preparation and grinding, as well as the use of color. The workshop will also include a practical component devoted to making paints with different materials and binders.
