Estucs 1881 SL – C. Casadevall has been selected by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation and INTBAU Spain as Master Craftsperson of the Month for September 2026.
Estucs 1881 SL – C. Casadevall is a family-run workshop that has specialized in traditional scagliola work and restoration since 1881. Its expertise, passed down from generation to generation and further developed through training in Catalonia and Italy, encompasses techniques such as scagliola, sgraffito, rustic finishes, fresco painting, and imitation stonework. The workshop works primarily with slaked lime, marble sand, and mineral pigments, and also has extensive experience in the restoration of stonework and ornamental elements.
Their work is concentrated primarily in Barcelona and Catalonia, where they have contributed to buildings such as Casa Amatller, the Parliament of Catalonia, the Monastery of Pedralbes, the Drassanes, and Palauet Albéniz, as well as to several projects recognized with FAD, City of Barcelona, and Construmat awards. The transmission of the craft also extends to teaching, through specialized training in traditional stucco techniques at the Escola Massana in Barcelona.
