Applications

All active craftspeople and professionals working in any of the traditional building trades who have carried out their professional activity in Spain for at least five years are eligible to apply for these awards. The same applicant may submit candidacies for more than one category, should they deem it appropriate.

Format and contents of applications

Interested professionals must submit, by 21 January 2026, the materials specified below:

  • The application form, requesting the candidate’s name, address, email, and contact telephone number (available for download here).
  • A brief text, no longer than one page, summarising the candidate’s professional biography, how they learned and practise their craft, any teaching or training experience, notable works, and the various merits for which their work may be considered for the award.
  • Up to twenty images in digital format (JPG or TIFF, 300 dpi), including photographs and/or drawings, both of working processes and of the most notable completed traditional works.
  • A brief text listing each of the images of the works submitted, with the option of including a short description of two or three lines for each work.

Awards

  • Category 1: Rodrigo de la Torre Prize
    Masonry and stonework: arches and vaults, vaulted stairways, stone carving and other brick and masonry projects.
  • Category 2:
    Carpentry works: wooden roofs, ceilings and structures, furnishings, muqarnas, woodturning, woodcarving, doors and windows carpentry, and other wood works.
  • Category 3:
    Finishes and other works in traditional building: tiles, mosaics, plasterwork, stucco, sgraffito, decorative flooring and other finishes.
  • Category 4:
    Glasswork and metalwork: forgework, ironwork, stained glass windows and other traditional metal
    and glass works.

Submitted proposals

The documentation of the applications selected in the competition will be widely disseminated and will also be exhibited and published.

All documentation, including personal data, will be treated with absolute confidentiality. This documentation must be sent by 21 January by email (WeTransfer or Google Drive) to the following address:
