Nicolau Baucells has been selected by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation and INTBAU Spain as master craftsperson of the month for May 2026.
Nicolau Baucells works with traditional techniques of lime putty renders, applied both in heritage interventions and in new construction. He has trained alongside master craftsmen specializing in finishes in regions such as Andalusia and Catalonia, which allows for the recognition of diverse influences in his work.

For the manufacture of these finishings he uses different traditional techniques such as: plastering, sgraffito, hot-ironed sgraffito and hot-ironed stuccoes. He also masters finishes which imitate stone ashlars. His work shows how these techniques are adapted to new construction through the introduction of new designs that do not alter the traditional way of working the material.
