2026 Iberian Summer School

The new edition of the Iberian Summer School on Traditional Architecture, organised by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation in collaboration with INTBAU Spain and INTBAU Portugal, will take place in Lisbon. During two weeks, the traditional urbanism, architecture, and building details of the region will be studied in order to work on a design proposal for the area.

Various site visits will also be organized, along with demonstrations by master craftspeople, and several experts in traditional architecture will give lectures each day. Hand drawing and measuring buildings will be the main activity to be developed during these two intense weeks.

The application and registration period is open until 29 March 2026.

– Basic information –

The language used during the activities will primarily be English, so it is recommended to have at least a basic knowledge of the language.

The spots are limited to 30, and a selection process will be carried out among all the applicants. Several places will be reserved for students from each participating university.

The tuition fee is €450. This fee includes registration, accommodation, meals, and transportation during the two weeks of the Summer School. Once applicants have been accepted, payment instructions will be provided. The actual cost per participant is €2,500, but thanks to the support of Richard H. Driehaus and the collaborating institutions, the participation fee has been reduced to €450.

In addition, there are several scholarships available to cover the cost of this registration fee.
