On 24 and 25 November 2025, the University of Notre Dame hosted the Léon Krier Conference and Exhibition, an international gathering dedicated to the life, intellectual career, and legacy of the Luxembourgish architect and urban planner Léon Krier, in which the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation was invited to take part in one of the programme’s roundtable discussions.
The event included a commemorative Mass, two days of lectures and roundtable discussions, as well as an exhibition organized by the School of Architecture, which brought together some of Krier’s most representative urban and architectural projects. Professionals and academics from the United States and several other countries took part in the sessions, examining the continuing relevance of his thinking and his central role in the development of the international movement of traditional architecture and urbanism.

The presentations addressed fundamental aspects of his work, including the relationship between nature and the city, the principles underlying the creation of good cities, and the tectonic knowledge required to ensure architectural durability. The event also highlighted the polycentric and multicultural character of the intellectual and professional movement that Krier has inspired over more than four decades.
Recordings of the conference sessions will be made available to the public on the University of Notre Dame’s YouTube channel in the coming weeks.
