The Traditional Building Cultures Foundation will participate in the Vernacular/Earthen Architecture Winter School, organized by the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA, OIC) and the University of Amar Telidji in Algeria, which will take place from January 29 to February 8, 2026, in the Laghouat–Ghardaïa corridor.
This international school focuses on the preservation and documentation of earthen vernacular heritage, offering both theoretical and practical training in traditional techniques —rammed earth, adobe, and earth-lime plasters— combined with digital methods for recording and analysis. The program brings together international specialists, including Alejandro García Hermida, Director of the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation.
The course is open to postgraduate students and young professionals (with between 0 and 7 years of experience) in architecture, preservation, archaeology, heritage management, urban planning, materials science, geomatics, or digital heritage.
Applications are open until November 12, 2025, and the results will be announced on November 22, 2025.

The activities take place across several ksour and historic quarters in southern Algeria, in coordination with local authorities and international experts. The Winter School strengthens the transmission of traditional building knowledge and its integration into contemporary conservation programs.
