The Traditional Building Cultures Foundation has participated in the INTBAU Qatar Winter School

The Traditional Building Cultures Foundation has participated in the INTBAU Qatar Winter School, held between 21 December 2025 and 3 January 2026 at Heenat Salma Farm, and organised by INTBAU Qatar and Caravane Earth, under the patronage of the Ministry of Social Development & Family.

The school culminated in the exhibition Neighborhoods For Belonging. Harmony Through Tradition , which presented the results of two weeks of intensive work focused on urban and architectural design grounded in traditional references. The project developed proposes a new model of urban development based on the region’s historical strategies of urban and architectural design, envisioning neighborhoods that extend and update the local architectural culture, are more walkable, better adapted to local climatic conditions, and more socially inclusive. The work was conceived as a master plan vision for a neighborhood in the city of Doha, designed to address contemporary needs through a culturally rooted approach.

The Foundation took part in supporting the design process, working in dialogue with an international faculty from various universities and institutions. The participants came from diverse international backgrounds, with representation from Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and the United States, among others. This diversity enriched the discussion and enabled the exchange of different cultural perspectives on traditional architecture, urbanism, and contemporary construction.
