Results of the 5th International Conference on Traditional Building, Architecture, and Urbanism

The 5th International Conference on Traditional Building, Architecture, and Urbanism was held from November 15 to 17, 2024, in Úbeda. It was organized by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation with the support of Richard H. Driehaus and in collaboration with INTBAU Spain, INTBAU Portugal, the Serra Henriques Foundation, and the City Council of Úbeda, the Foundation Casa Ducal de Medinaceli, the Association of Artisans of Úbeda, the Center for Renaissance Studies of Úbeda, the Foundation Huerta de San Antonio and the School of Arts Casa de Las Torres.

The in-person program included a series of lectures delivered by international architects, various demonstrations conducted by masters of traditional construction, and technical visits around the city of Úbeda. Among these was a guided tour of the Sacred Chapel of the Savior, led by architect Rafael Manzano Martos.

The lectures delivered as part of the live program of the congress were as follows:

  • Rehabilitación de una casa palacio en Fuentes de Andalucía, Sevilla. Delivered by Fernando Martín Sanjuán, Jose Luis Pérez Hidalgo, Miguel Ángel Balmaseda y Sebastián Pérez.
  • The School of Bunesti, Romania. Delivered by Ana Maria Goilav.
  • The Mosque of the Blessed Tree in Safawi, Jordan. Delivered by Maher Abusamra.
  • Can Architecture Rebel? Delivered by Eric Norin.
  • Residencial La Chimenea de Chinchón. Arquitectura tradicional de nueva planta . Impartida por Juan Luis Camacho.
