Hartea has been selected by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation and INTBAU Spain as the master craftsperson of the month for November 2024.
Joseba Lekuona, whose workshop is located in San Sebastián, has been working with stone since the early 1990s. During this time, he has carried out a wide variety of projects, such as the carving of funerary steles, coats of arms, fountains, capitals, ornamental elements, copies of Romanesque capitals, as well as religious and civil sculptures.
In all the aforementioned works Joseba uses the techniques of traditional masonry, helped by manually-driven electrical machinery for those tasks where it’s more convenient. He works with materials like marble from Markina, calcarenite and sandstone from the middle area of Navarra.
