Exhibition of the Results of the 2024 Iberian Summer School

The Casa das Artes in Arcos de Valdevez is hosting, until the end of October, the exhibition of works produced during the Iberian Traditional Architecture Summer School, held in July 2024 in this town in northern Portugal.

For two weeks around thirty students of different nationalities stayed at the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Peneda, in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. From there, they studied and documented examples of vernacular architecture in various localities and developed intervention proposals inspired by traditional models.

On 18 October at 16:00 a book on the results of the Summer School will be presented together with the results of the work carried out. A guided tour of the exhibition will also be offered. This event is part of ARQOUT2025, Month of Architecture, coordinated by the Ordem dos Arquitectos of Portugal.

The exhibition also features the photographic series Uma Arquitectura de Verdade by architect António Menéres, with images of the traditional architecture of the Arcos de Valdevez region, taken between the 1950s —when he took part in the Survey of Portuguese Regional Architecture— and the 2010s.

The exhibition and the publication of the book are organized by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation, INTBAU Portugal, INTBAU Spain, the Municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, and the Serra Henriques Foundation.
