The Traditional Building Cultures Foundation, thanks to Richard H. Driehaus, the support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and the collaboration of INTBAU Spain, has launched the 2026 call for applications for the Donald Gray Building Arts Grants. These grants aim to support the transmission of traditional building crafts, encourage generational renewal, and provide practical training opportunities for emerging artisans under the guidance of master craftspeople of recognised excellence. <\/p>\n\n

This year\u2019s edition offers two six-month grants. The first provides training with master carpenter and cabinetmaker Miguel \u00c1ngel Balmaseda<\/strong>, a leading practitioner in the preservation of \u00c9cija\u2019s traditional woodworking techniques and recipient of the 2019 Building Arts Award. The second offers training with master stained-glass artist Anna Santolaria Tura<\/strong>, a specialist in the conservation and restoration of stained glass and also a recipient of the 2019 Building Arts Award. <\/p>\n\n

The selected applicants will receive financial support of \u20ac7,200 gross to undertake their training. Payment of this grant, in whole or in part, will be subject to the fulfilment of the training objectives established at the beginning of the programme. The participating master craftspeople will also receive financial support for their teaching work and to help cover the costs associated with the apprenticeship process. <\/p>\n\n

Applications will remain open until 8 September 2026<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n
